Nocturnal clashes rock Budgam village; locals accuse forces of ‘vandalism’

Srinagar: Nocturnal clashes erupted in Goripora village of Beerwah in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district immediately after government forces raided the village in a bid to arrest youth.

Community citizens explained that govt forces raided the village at all-around 12 am “with an aim to detain youths”, having said that, as they jumped in excess of the partitions of some household, the residents lifted alarm, pursuing which the villagers came out and pelted stones on the forces ensuing in nocturnal clashes.

They mentioned that the federal government forces utilised tear smoke shells to disperse the people.

The locals alleged that just after the raid was foiled by the area residents, the Government forces resorted to vandalisation of property and smashed personal vehicles and windowpanes some houses.

Meanwhile, a senior law enforcement official refuted the allegations f vandalism and said that the forces were being in the village for a cordon and search procedure. He explained that the people pelted stones on the forces ensuing in clashes. “There was almost nothing like vandalism.”
